Nick Uwins steps down as Club Chairman and receives the Simon Hedley Award (30/07/10)
The Annual General Meeting held on 12th July 2010 saw Nick Uwins step down from his role as club chairman after 10 years as a club officer. Together with Martin Bradley and Peter Gissell, Nick founded the club in 2000. All of the attendees at the AGM paid tribute to Nick's dedication and commitment to the spirit of enjoyment and fair play. Nick remains a committee member and manager of the U18 team next season.
Richard Holberton was elected the new club chairman.
Nick was the deserving recipient of the Simon Hedley Award, presented by the Surrey Primary League, this year in recognition of his exceptional commitment to grassroots football at Burpham Juniors FC and throughout the county.
Club celebrates its 10th Anniversary (31/05/10)
A huge hog roast and barbecue marked the club's 10th Anniversary at Sutherland Park on Saturday 22nd May 2010. The weather was good to us and we had a great afternoon of friendly football, cricket, volley ball for all ages.
Nick Uwins, Club Chairman, made the inaugrual presentaions of the Bradley Cup and the Uwins Cup. These are perpetual cups to be awarded each year by the Chairman and Secretary of the club. The Bradley Cup is for 'contribution to the club' and the Uwins Cup is for 'commitment to football'.
The first recipient of the Bradley Cup is for Andy Penson who was instrumental in setting up our association with Planet Soccer to coach 5-7 year olds who will become future members of the club. Andy has also held the position of Welfare Office for a number of years as well as managing a team since 2003.
The Uwins Cup was awarded to the Milbourn family who have 3 children that have played in Burpham Juniors teams over the years. They always give their best on the field and both parents are always willing to help out team managers whever they can.
2008/09 season (05/09/09)
This was a great season for the club with 160 members in seven age groups. The teams all played in the Surrey Primary League and did well in their respective age groups and divisions. Special mentions go to the U12 team who were Division 5 champions and the U16 team who were Division 1 runners up.
Martin Bradley steps down as Chairman after 9 years (07/07/09)
Martin Bradley chaired his last Annual General Meeting of Burpham Juniors FC on 6th July 2009. Together with Nick Uwins and Peter Grissell, Martin founded the club in 2000 and has been Chairman ever since, working tirelessly to develop the club for the benefit of the players. Nick Uwins, who has now taken over the chairmanship of the club, presented Martin with a watch as a gift from club members and spoke of Martin's energy and drive over the years that has seen the club reach FA Charter Standard and a number of successes both on and off the pitch. Thanks for all your hard work for us Martin.
2007/08 season (12/07/08)
We had four teams who were league winners during 2007/08: U9's, U13A, U13B and U17. The U14's were runners up in their league.
The early years (00/00/00)
Burpham Juniors FC was established in 2000 with a handful of members and thanks to the hard work of our Chairman, Martin Bradley and our secretary, Nick Uwins, we have grown to a membership of more than 150.
The club achieved FA Charter Standard Status in 2006, and was awarded a grant by the Football Foundation in 2007 to help develop the club over the next 3 years....
